Active / Manuka Honey
Active Honey is called "THE WORLDS FIRST HEALTH FOOD", because its healthy properties were first described in ancient writings, and is also a "SUPER FOOD" because active honey contains nearly every known nutrient required for a balanced human diet: 22 amino acids, 27 minerals most of the known vitamins, and many enzymes and proteins including active diastase at between 4 - 7% activity. It only lacks roughage and water for a totally complete and balanced human nutrition.
WHAT IS THE DIFERENCE BETWEEN UMF, ACTIVE +, GMO?
These are the three main ways of determining the activity levels of Manuka Honey. All active Manuka honey is tested and we believe that providing the honey is from a reputable source the actual method of testing should be irrelevant. UMF is not a certificate of efficacy but is in fact a registered trade mark belonging to a New Zealand trade organisation. This means that most UMF and Active + honeys are tested in exactly the same way. The actual test is for NPA (non peroxide activity). The result is that without buying into the "Brand" and packing the product in New Zealand you cannot use the UMF mark. Most European and even a large number of New Zealand companies choose not to join these trading groups preferring to pass on the cost saving to our customers. We also carry out all of our final quality control in our own laboratory and packing plant here in the UK there by safeguarding British jobs.
Here at Littleover Apiary Our Manuka Honey is produced in New Zealand. This is the only place in the world that genuine manuka honey can be produced despite some recent spurious claims by some of the UK media. It is available as 5+, 10+, or 15+ plus activity.
Our Manuka is tested to internationally recognized standards, which is necessary to determine its medicinal value and its NPA with its unique antibacterial and antibiotic qualities.
Active Honey contains 500 times the bioflavanoid concentration of oranges. It is antibacterial and promotes good health. It is said it will aid digestion and to help improve vision. Active Honey also helps strengthen the cardiac system and because it is twice the sweetness of sugar and so as a sugar replacement can help reduce our daily sugar intake and be of use as a sugar replacement for some diabetics (the natural sugars contained in honey have a slower absorption rate than refined sugar and so does not cause such an insulin spike). Two TEASPOONS daily improves the body and promotes good health. It is recommended for everyone over the age of 55 to take two teaspoon daily to maximize the benefits of this most special of nature's products.
We gather our Active English honey only from the honey produced by the bees during the middle of the summer season to ensure the activity level is at its peak. It is then cold extracted and filtered within two hours of its being removed from the hive, this is to ensure that this most special of all honeys reaches you in the peak of condition.
